Can you remember the Monty-Python tune 'The Lumberjack song'?
In 1983 whilst working as a tree surgeon's assistant in West London my boss pointed out John Cleese who was having his morning jogging session.
We were removing a dead tree trunk from the front of John Cleese's immediate neighbour's garden. It was a 6 ft hollow stump filled with putrefying black water that stank to high heaven as it ran down the street gully & into the drains.
On seeing John Cleese merrily cantering by, I took the opportunity to break into a rendition of 'the lumberjack song'. J.C. waved, as he jogged that silly walk & entered into his house!
But in typical anally retentive proper Brit style Crusty-ness my Boss told me to shut-up as that's how he looses clients. The Stupid, mindless, puerile, British killjoy of a cretin!
This example portrays the constant & sad, humourless & begrudging mentality of those who see fit to criticise my bursting into song; one of the finest sounds known to mankind!
